Fine Turkish Shamshir Sword with Wootz Blade - 10216
This Shamshir sword is Turkish, late 18 to early 19C. Finest wootz (Damascus, watered) blade of dark high contrast very clear pattern, marked with the Persian “lion” 33 inches long. Rhino horns grips with steel grip strap and cross guard. Leather covered scabbard with steel mounts decorated with gold koftgari work. Total length 39 inches. Very good condition. Few pitted spots. Minor losses to the gold koftgari work. The tip of the scabbard is cracked. |
