Fine Turkish Long Knife with Wootz Blade - 10177


This long knife is Turkish, late 18 to early 19 C. 11 inches blade with strong T spine, forged from fine Wootz (Watered) steel with clear high contrast pattern. The blade is most probably of Persian origin. The handle is finely carved walrus ivory set with small turquoise stones and a bigger stone on the pommel end. Silver covered bolsters. Original scabbard covered with black leather stitched with spiral stitching and mounted with short locket and chape in a classical Turkish style. Total length 16 inches. Very good condition. A very small area of the spiral stitching is damaged.
