Very Good Knife from Bosnia Herzegovina - 10154


A typical knife from Bosnia & Herzegovina, from the very short period of independence before the annexation to the Austro-Hungarian Empire at the end of the 19th C. The blade is straight, single edge, 9 1/2 inches long and signed with a maker mark in the shape of a small sword. The grips are bone with flared pommel, set with brass nails and inserts in a typical Balkan style of decoration. The scabbard is wood covered with thin chased brass. Total length 14 inches (quite long, compared to 10-12 inches more common similar knives. Very good condition.
