Very Rare and Fine Turkish Set of Javelins - Jarid - 10129


Javelins (Short throwing spears) were used in the eastern world from Turkey to India. This pair of javelins, also known as Jarid is Turkish, late 18 to early 19 C. It includes two javelins with 7 inches blades of hollow ground square cross section and wood hafts 24 1/2 inches long ending with a chased silver cap. The Pair is housed in a wood scabbard with two compartments, covered with velvet and mounted with chased silver mounts. Total length 33 inches. Very good condition. One of the hafts was cracked and repaired. Minor damages to the silver mounts. A very rare item, hardly seen on the market.
