Up for sale is this very fine and early Koumaya Dagger from Morocco, dated to 298. Classical blade, 9 1/2 inches long, double edged at its lower half and single edged at the top. The handle is carved from a single massive piece of Rhino horn with a very clear fibrous structure. Chased silver grip collar and big chased silver pommel. Wood scabbard covered with chased silver in a classical Moroccan design. The scabbard as well as the pommel cap are marked with silver proof mark and dated 298 (standing for 1298, 1881 in the Gregorian calendar). Total length 16 1/2 inches. Very good plus condition.
