Unusual Hide Buckler / Shield from Baluchistan - 10049
Rare and unusual Buckler (Hand Shield) from Baluchistan, the homeland of the Baluchi people in West Pakistan. It is 11 inches in diameter, made of heavy Buffalo (?) hide covered with ribbed black leather on both sides. The outer surface is heavily decorated with engraved brass ornament and with four tall brass bosses, holding the rear handle rings and a leather hand cushion on the rear side. A massive 7 inches steel spike is mounted at the center of the buckler. Very good condition. Age cracks on the hide. The brass bosses are lightly loose. |
