Rare Thai Dah sword in the Japanese Style Handle - 10028

This rare Dah sword is coming from Thailand, mid to late 19 C. Long and heavy blade, 28 1/2 inches long with high ridge spine with light engraving. Hardwood two handed long handle, 11 inches long, carved in a style to imitate the cord binding of Japanese katana swords. Big finely chased silver mounts on the handle. Total length 39 1/2 inches. Very good condition Minor edge nicks on the blade. No scabbard. This, and similar swords were probably made for the use of Japanese mercenaries fighting for the Siam army, or made by Japanese craftsman employed in Siam as sword
