Up for sale is this Shamshir sword, Persian, early 19 C. Blade 32 inches with classical wedge cross section, forged from Wootz (Damascus, watered ) steel of good high contrast. Elephant ivory grips and steel cross guard and pommel cap. Engraved silver cross guard. The grips are bound on their lower part with twisted silver wire. Total length 37 inches. Very good condition. Age cracks on the ivory but holds very solid. No scabbard.
