Very Good Heavy Pulwar Sword - 9812

This heavy sword is a Pulwar, the Afghan relative of the Indian Tulwar, characterized by the steel handle with down curving quillons and semispherical pommel cap. This one is a very good example, mid 19 C. with a heavy wide blade 27 inches long and 2 inches wide with 11 inches raised back edge (Yelmen). The blade is forged from very good pattern welded (Damascus) steel and deeply marked with the maker sign near the langet. The whole steel handle is of the classical form with a ribbed pommel. Total length 32 inches. Very good condition. Scratches from old sharpening attempts. No scabbard.
