Pair of Old Brass Shields of the Ache People, Sumatra - 9788


The Ache people of Central Sumatra are carrying small round hand shield (or Buckler) made of brass which is also locally known as .Peurise Teumaga.. Here we offer for sale a pair of such identical shields, 9 1/2 inches in diameter, made of cast brass and decorated with one central and six brass bosses and six points stars. Similar shields are shown in A.G. Van Zonneveld Traditional Weapons of the Indonesian Archipelago p. 106, Figs. 417-420. This is an authentic, early 20 C. Pair. Very good condition. The rear handles are missing. Very low price.
