This fine and rare knife is an Indian mail piercer, also known as Zirah Bouk, early to mid 19 C. Heavy blade forged from good Indian wootz steel (Crystalline) ending with a heavy diamond shaped tip so it will easily pierce even the strongest mail rings. Blade length 8 inches. Steel bolsters and grip strap finely inlaid with gold koftgari work. Bone grips lightly colored. Total length 12 inches. Very good condition. A rare dagger in a very elegant shape.
