Very Good Keris Penjang (Execution) Sword, Sumatra - 9696
A Keris Penjang , also sometimes referred to as Execution Keris from Sumatra. This rare type of Keris was supposedly used to execute criminals. The long narrow blade was inserted above the collarbone of the sitting executed person and pushed down directly into the heart, causing instant death. The blade of this specific Keris is 18 1/2 inches long, forged from pamor steel. The hilt is finely carved horn. Metal mendak. Wood scabbard with long chased silver mounts. Total length 23 inches. Very good condition. Few blackened spots on the blade. |
