Fine Heavy Indian Sword with a Straight European Blade - 9685
Up for sale is this very interesting sword, India, early to mid 19 C. The blade is straight and heavy, 37 inches long and 2 inches wide, marked with the German mark of moon with a styled face (common to German trade blades of the 19 C.) and decorated with gold koftgari work. Whole steel Tulwar style handle. The scabbard is original, covered with leather and mounted with big chased steel locket and chape and two steel carrying bands. The leather seam is covered with engraved brass strip. Total length 42 inches. Very good condition. Some losses to the gold work. Very impressive sword. |
