Unusual Pedang Sword, Indonesia, Very Rare Form - 9673
This form of sword from Sumatra, Indonesia is known as Pedang I. It has a clear influence from the Indian subcontinent and usually employs a foreign blade, as most probably the case here: A saber blade, probably a secondary use of a European military saber, 30 inches long with 10 inches false back edge. The blade is marked WD CAS TL . Steel basket hilt nicely engraved with a ball shaped pommel (very unusual). Total length 36 Very good condition. No scabbard. For similar swords see A.G.
