This sword is of Georgian origin, early 19 C. Nicely fullered blade, slightly up curving, 31 1/2 inches long. The blade is marked with the GURDA ("Eyelashes") mark which is the mark of quality in Caucasian blades. Wood handle covered with black leather with steel cross guard and pommel, both very finely inlaid with silver in a dense floral design. Total length 36 inches. Unfortunately the blade was re welded 4 1/2 inches below the blade tip. It is an old and very professional repair. Otherwise, the condition is very good. Rare sword.
