This fine Shamshir sword is Indian, 19 C. with an 18 C. Blade dated 1212 (1797 in the Gregorian calendar). The blade is 32 inches long, single edged, marked with a gold inlaid Arabic inscription and the date 1212. The fullers are separated to several sectors with gold inlay decoration in between. Classical Tulwar style handle richly decorated with fine gold koftgari work all around. Original scabbard covered with blue velvet (recent) and mounted with a silver chape. Total length 39 inches. Very Good condition. Minor forging flaws on the blade.
