Fine Turkish Long Bichaq Knife with Wootz Blade - 9477
This long knife is Turkish, early to mid 19 C., from the Bichaq family, with the handle reminding the Yataghans style handle. The blade is forged from very fine Wootz steel, with high contrast pattern, decorated with gold koftgari work. The grips a walrus ivory and the grip strap is silver with fine filigree work. Chased silver scabbard. Total length 16 1/2 inches. Very good condition. Very minor pitted spots on the blade. An old soldering repair on the grip strap. |
