Very Good Parang Nabur Sword from Kalimantan (Borneo) - 9406
Up for sale is this classical example of the Parang Nabur sword from Kalimantan (Borneo). This saber shaped sword with the D guard is strongly influenced from the naval cutlasses carried by the Dutch sailors, and shows a perfect blend of European with Islamic styles. Up-curving heavy blade 23 inches long, widening to its maximum width near the tip. The tip is finely filed and pierced. The handle is horn with checkered design and the cross guard and D guard are white metal. Total length 28 inches. Very good condition. A classical good example, late 19 C. |
