Fine 19 C Short Sword From Buthan - 9317

An old short sword from Bhutan. These type of swords are characterized by the open side scabbard. The blade is single edge, thick and heavy, 16 inches long. The grip is wood bound with silver wires. The wood scabbard is open and the sword is held in position by two silver bands, with rich filigree work set with a turquoise stone. The tip of the scabbard is also decorated with a rich silver filigree panel set with three turquoise stones. Total length is 24 inches. Very good condition. Minor wood chips on the scabbard. A rare sword. |
