This is a very good Indo-Persian hide shield. The shield diameter is 16 ½ inches and the height is 5 inches – much higher than the 3 inches height common on such shields. It is made of heavy hide (Buffalo ??) painted black with four engraved and gilded steel bosses. Also the inner rivets are gilded. Very good condition. There are some age cracks in the black paint. The hand cushion is original and in good condition but one of the hand strap is torn. Excellent item.
