Spanish Colonial Sword - 9272

Spanish Colonial sword is the common name for these rare and unusual swords, however, where they were used is not very clear. It was attributed to Spanish troops serving in Spanish Morocco, and/or Philippines and/or Cuba and other Central America countries. Fine blade, 31 inches long, nicely fullered, with a reverse clipped tip (reminding in a way the so called "Berber sword" blades. 10 inches ricasso and only 21 inches of the blade are edged. Silver handle finely engraved and marked G. ORBIS. Total length 36 inches. Very good condition. Heavily patinated blade with patches of pitting. Minor dents on the handle, with a small hole in the pommel suggesting an earlier D guard. Very scarce sword.
