Very Good Parang Nabur Sword from Kalimantan (Borneo) - 9195
Up for sale is this classical example of the Parang Nabur sword from Kalimantan (Borneo). This saber shaped sword with the D guard is strongly influenced from the naval cutlasses carried by the Dutch sailors, and shows a perfect blend of European with Islamic styles. Up-curving heavy blade 23 inches long, widening to 2 inch wide near the tip, lightly engraved and pierced at the tip. The handle is horn with checkered grip and the cross guard and D guard are brass. Total length 28 inches. Very good condition. Very light pitted area on the blade. A classical good example, late 19 C. |
