This fine shield is Indian, early to mid 19 C. 17 1/2 inches diameter, heavy steel set with four big pierced bosses and finely decorated gold and silver koftgari inlay. The decoration is of dense foliage with inscription in Arabic letters around the rim. Original inner red fabric and handles. Very good condition. Minor losses to the silver inlay (The gold inlay is almost intact). Hand cushion missing. Fine and very elegant shield
