Up for sale is this fine Turkish Shamshir sword, complete with its whole silver scabbard. The blade is wootz, light contrast pattern, 30 inches long. Steel cross guard of unusual shape and size, more than 7 inches long. Horn grips with silver grip strap. The scabbard is made of heavy silver on wood, beautifully chiseled on its entire length in a pattern which may show European influence. Total length 36 inches. Very good condition. Age scratches on the blade and old nicks on the edge. Repair on the right grip. The long cross guard and the chiseled pattern suggest a Balkan origin or even Eastern European one.
