Very Good Kard Knife with Ivory Grips - 5883

The blade of this Kard knife is forged out of superb Persian wootz. It is 10 inches long and single edge with a gold koftgary floral decoration at its heel. The grips are ivory riveted to the blade tang with with four rivets and with eared pommel in a Turkish / Central Asian style. The scabbard is wood with the original silver locket and chape but with a recent red velvet covering. This is a superb piece of wootz steel, probably 18 Century from North India or Central Asia, in very good condition. Only minor darkened spots on the blade – but no pitting and almost 90% of the gold koftgary is intact. A great piece for the lovers of wootz steel.
