Very Good Indian Sword - 5882

A very rare and unusual Indian Sword, probably late 18 C. from South India. The slightly down curving blade is 29 inches long with an 8-½ inches back edge. The heavy blade is forged from excellent pattern welded (Damascus) steel and signed in a slightly primitive form of moon and star (A well known Islamic symbol). The handle is brass with flared quilons. And the D guard is formed in the shape of an elephant head with a snake. Very good sword in a good plus condition. The blade is unsharpened or otherwise cleaned and maintain a good patina with very minor pitted spots. A prized addition to any collection of Indian arms and armor. |
