Whole Steel Pesh-Kabz Dagger with Mail Piercer Tip - Rajasthan - 5887

A whole steel Pesh-Kabz dagger, most probably late 19 C. from Rajasthan, India. The 10-½ inches re-curving blade is reinforced with a strong T spine, extending 6 ½ inches from the blade heel toward the tip. The last 4 inches are swollen to a heavy diamond cross-section tip in a typical Zirah-Bouk (Mail Piercer) tip. The handle is also of whole steel construction, inlaid with silver koftgari work. The pommel cover can be removed to open the hollow grip (a very typical style of Rajasthani whole steel edged weapons). Total length 15 inches. Leather covered wood scabbard with pierced silver tip (newly made). Very good condition. Minor scratches on the blade and small areas of worn silver koftgari on the hilt. Very impressive and decorative piece of weaponry.
