Very Good Turkish Kilij / Pala Sword with Wootz Blade - 8845

This sword is known as Pala or Kilij. It is Turkish, late 18 C. with a very good curved blade 26 inches long, with raised 9 1/2 inches back edge. It is forged from very fine high contrast wootz (Damascus, watered) steel with hardened edge. The blade is signed (Maker name ??) and decorated with gold koftgari work. Massive Rhino horn grips, silver grip strap and silver cross guard. Total length 32 inches. Very good condition to age. Minor blackened spots and edge nicks. Losses to the gold koftgari work. The grip strap and the cross guard are restored. No scabbard. A fine rare sword, very much sought after by collectors.
