Rare Ancient Sword from Central Asia, 9-10 C. - 8813
Up for sale is this rare and ancient short sword from the 9-10 C. The blade is 26 1/2 inches, Single edged with a 9 inches back edge and a diamond cross section of the tip. Original cross guard and grip collar. Excavated condition but very solid. This sword was excavated in Central Asia with a lot of other swords, all dated to the 9th or 10th C. It is believed that this sword was used by foot warriors, whereas cavalry warriors where using long slightly curved sabers, also found in the same lot. Swords from this period are very rare.
