This Yataghan is coming from Epirus in N.W Greece. The attribution to Epirus comes from the shape of the handle and the pommel, common to Epirus knives and short swords. Fine down curving blade, 24 inches long, forged from pattern welded (Damascus) steel in the pattern knows as Turkish Ribbon and signed by the maker. The handle is chased silver. The scabbard is covered with black leather and mounted with chased silver locket and chape. Total length 29 inches. Very good condition. Blackened spots on the blade with minor pitted spots. Losses to the scabbard leather.
