Very Fine 17 C. Turkish Jambiya Dagger - 8812
This fine dagger is Turkish, late 16 to early 17 C. This dagger style were common in the period and some has reached western Europe very early during and after the failures of the Turkish sieges on Wien. The blade is short and massive, forged from fine Persian wootz steel and decorated with coral bids inserted in rectangular apertures in the blade. The handle is solid piece of walrus Ivory. The scabbard is wood, covered with black leather and mounted with gilded copper finely chased locket and chape. Total length 12 inches. A rare and fine dagger.
