This short knife is a typical knife from the Maldives Islands located South West of India. It is characterized by the up]swept pommel tip. In general it has some resemblance to the Piha Kahetta from Sri Lanka. This exemplar is from the early to mid 20 C., with a 5 1/2 inches solid blade set with Aluminum inserts. The grips and pommel are bone and the handle decorations are also Aluminum. Total length 9 1/2 inches. Very good condition. Good patina on the blade. No scabbard. Quite a scarce item.
