Up for sale is this fine “PIHA KAHETTA”, the traditional knife of the Sinhalese from Sri-Lanka (Ceylon). Like the old classical examples it has a single edged short heavy down curving heavy, fullered blade, 7 inches long with big brass bolsters. The grips are beautifully carved from ivory with good age patina, set with chiseled and chased silver plaques and chased silver pommel cover. Total length is 12 inches. Very good condition. Very fine age patina on the blade and the ivory grips. Minor damage to the silver pommel cover. A fine piece in good condition and very reasonable price.
