Very Rare Ayda Katty Sword of the Coorgs - 5860


The Ayda Katti is the national sword of the Coorg of Malabar, the South West coastal area of India. It is one of the rarest items in the Indian arsenal and of a very peculiar shape. It reminds in a way an agricultural tool, but it is a real weapon and a deadly one in the experienced hands. The blade of this one is of a sickle shape 14 inches long and more than 6 inches wide at its widest point. The handle is horn with a heavy brass bolster and the kite shaped pommel is also horn. 20 inches total length. Very good plus condition. Minor old sharpening signs on the blade and few blackened areas. Minor worm damage on the pommel near the central riveted tang. DO NOT MISS THIS RARE UNIQUE SWORD.
