Up for sale is this fine “PIHA KAHETTA”, the traditional knife of the Sinhalese from Sri-Lanka (Ceylon). Like the old classical examples it has a single edged short heavy down curving fullered blade, 8 inches long 2 inches wide and 1/2 inch thick at its base. The grips are beautifully carved from ivory with deep dark brown shiny age patina, set with chiseled and chased silver plaques (one missing) and chased silver pommel cover. Total length is 12 1/2 inches. Very good condition. Very fine age patina on the blade and the ivory grips. A fine piece in good condition and very reasonable price.
