Good Pata Gauntlet Sword, India - 8211
The Pata Indian gauntlet Sword was evolved from the Kattar push dagger and was in use during several centuries in India.
This one is probably mid 19 C, with an earlier, probably 18 C, 31 inches dual edge blade forged from laminated steel, with a short shallow central fuller. The gauntlet steel handle is koftgari inlaid with silver. Total length 41 1/2 inches. Very good condition. No scabbard. We think that the blade and handle were not born together but both are old and authentic.
