A Rare 19C Indian Fakir Crutch - 8583
Indian Fakirs were not allowed to carry weapons. Instead they were carrying short crutches, almost always containing a concealed blade. Here is a classical example, 19 C. whole steel 19 1/2 Inches long shaft, with a concealed 14 inches blade. The beautiful handle is in a shape of a horn held by a hand with a lions head pommel. The horn is steel. The palm and lions head pommel are brass or bronze. Total length 22 1/2 inches. Very good condition. Some traces of silver Koftgari decoration on the shaft. The Lion hed is slightly loose. For a very similar example see Stone P.223 Fig.3. |
