Up for sale is this very good dagger, coming from Yemen. It is known between western collectors as Jambiya, although locally it may be called in different names. This one is of very good quality, far superior to the many found in the market. The blade is forged of very good steel, relatively a large one, 9 inches long and 2 1/2 inches wide. The handle is rhino horn, decorated with steel nails and a small gold imitation coin as a rosette of the rivet. The scabbard is wood, covered with leather and mounted with a big and very well made, gilded silver chape with fine filigree work and a coral bid at its tip. Total length 15 1/2 inches. A fine example of its kind.
