Very Fine Vietnamese Saber Guom - 8449

Up for sale is this Vietnamese saber also known as Guom. The single edged grooved blade is slightly curved, narrow and 26 inches long. The blade is marked with what may look as Latin letters, and which is possibly a local attempt by the sword maker to imitate letters indicating the European origin of the blade. The hilt is composed of a wood grip with chased brass lion head pommel and copper silver cross guard and D guard. All metal parts of the hilt are inlaid with silver and gold in a beautiful pattern. The scabbard is wood with chased silver fittings. Total length 36 inches. Very good condition. A very fine piece. |
