Typical Bedouin Dagger Shibriya - 5828
A typical example of the Bedouin side dagger locally known as Shibriya. All men carry it and it is very popular between the Bedouin tribes residing in Israel and in Jordan. (Unfortunately, similar daggers offered on the net are wrongly identified and wrongly related to various cultures from Morocco to India). The blade is short, 7 ½ inches, re-curving and double edged with an acute tip. Both the grip and the scabbard are wood covered with white metal and engraved in geometrical pattern. The scabbard is set with 9 colored glass bids and equipped with a belt loop at the rear side. Very good plus condition. This is a mid 20 Century piece, very typical to the area and of aesthetic proportion and beauty. It is offered here at a very low price. |
