Good Chinese Knife - 5827

This is a good Chinese knife with extremely fine work on the steel scabbard, pierced and engraved with Dragons and flowers. The knife has a good short and heavy blade of almost 6 inches long with two narrow fullers and a maker stamp. The hilt grip is made of alternating layers of dark wood and bone. The blade is somewhat shorter than the 9 inches scabbard, which may indicate that it was not born with the scabbard, or broken and re-shaped. Also the grip is probably of later addition as it is of a lesser quality than the blade and the scabbard. But altogether it is a knife of quality and certainly not common. Very good condition. Very attractive price.
