This short sword / heavy knife is most probably coming from Trabzon, a city in the north of Turkey on the shores of the black sea. It is a late 19 or very early 20 C. vintage. A 16 inches slightly down curving heavy Yataghan style blade, with several deep fullers. Black horn grips. Original scabbard covered with velvet and mounted with long white metal locket and chape. Total length 21 inches. Very good condition. Minor chips on the grip horn. Small damage to the scabbard tip. Belt ring attachment missing. Very attractive price.
