Very Fine Arabian Saif Sword - 8311
This very fine piece is an Arabian saber, also known as Saif. These Saif swords usually employs trade blades imported from Persia or from Europe, or locally made blades in such styles. This sword has a Shashqa style blade, 31 inches long, probably of European origin but un marked. The cross guard is finely chased silver and so is the grip strap. The grips are ivory bound with twisted silver wire. This sword come with its original scabbard covered with finely tooled leather stitched with silver wire and mounted with finely chased belt rings and chape. Total length 36 inches. Good condition. Few pitted spots on the blade. Excellent age patina on the grips. The pommel silver cover is missing. Some losses to the scabbard leather cover. A fine scarce sword. All partrs original and un touched. |
