Very Early 17 C. Kora Fighting Sword - 8181


This fine and rare sword is one of the earliest Kora swords known. It is dated to the early 17 C. and originates from Central / North India. The blade is 22 inches long, extremely heavy and almost ½ inch thick at its base. The handle is somewhat different from the later Kora swords, with a cross guard of a common sword and a disk pommel. Silver cover on the handle with mesh covered cylindrical grip. Wood scabbard with its original fabric cover. Total length 29 inches. Very good condition to age. Some blackened spots on the blade. Damaged silver cover of the grip and worn scabbard fabric. A rare piece.
