Up for sale is this good example of a Balkan Yataghan sword. Typical down curving blade, 20 1/2 inches long, decorated with true silver inlay work with inscriptions in Arabic letters, signed and dated to 1191 in the Islamic calendar . This refers to 1777 in the Gregorian calendar. The handle is composed of two horn slabs in the classical pommel ears shape riveted with ivory disks. The bolster and grip strap are chased silver.Total length 25 inches. Very good condition.
