Rare 18 C. Pata Gauntlet Sword, India - 8156

The Pata Indian gauntlet Sword that was evolved from the Kattar push dagger and was in use during several centuries in India.
This one is probably 18 C, with 31inches single edge earlier blade probably of European origin. The hand gauntlet is made of wood and covered with leather with brass trimmings and ivory inner handle. The gauntlet is shaped like an elephant head. Total length 47 inches. Very good condition to age. Heavy age patina on the blade. Few age cracks on the leather cover and the ivory handle. No scabbard. A rare and unique item. |
