We offer here for sale a very interesting Klewang short sword / Machete from South Sumatra. Triangular shaped blade 11 inches long, 3 inches wide at the tip. Wood hilt covered with thin chased silver. This items comes with a wood scabbard (scarce and probably later to the blade) open at the top to allow easy withdraw of the wide blade. Total Length 14 ½ inches. A similar Klewang sword is described in A. G. Van Zonneveld Traditional Weapons of the Indonesian Archipelago , P 70 Fig. 265. Very good condition. Good homogenous age patina on the blade.
