A Shamshir made for a boy, all in the right proportions but a smaller version of the Eastern saber that for centuries enchanted the world and was copied in practically all armies of the western world. A light. Deeply curved, wedge shape blade of minimal and simple design 24 inches long, forged from a Wootz (watered steel, Damascus) with gold inlaid cartouch (true inlay) with the maker name and a Badouh, the magic squre with Arabic numbers in gold inlay. Steel cross guard, bone grips and steel grip strap and pommel. Total length 29 inches. Very good condition. The hilt restored. The pommel cap is later. |
