This is a very unusual Takouba sword, with a very wide blade, 33 inches long, 3 ½ inches wide at the top. The handle is steel bound with leather as well as the cross guard. Tooled leather scabbard with brass mounts and with the original baldric suspension rope, partially bound around the scabbard. The blade does not go all the way into the scabbard and about ¾ inches are left out probably because of the leather age shrink. Total length 41 inches. Very good condition. Slightly worn scabbard. A big and impressive sword, probably belonged to a high ranking Tuareg person.
