As big as it can get This is the biggest double axe of the period that we have seen: 43 inches long ( compared to 30 average) 15 inches blade length ( compared to 10 average)17 inches wide (compared to 12 average). Huge impressive double blade ceremonial axe from the late Qajar period, second half of the 19 C. The blades are beautifully chiseled in the period style depicting battle scenes framed in gold koftgari work. Central five pronged head with traces of silver koftgari work. The long steel handle is etched to imitate twisted steel pattern. Very good condition. Good age patina with patches of shallow rust and blackened areas. |
